Some time ago I vowed to showcase some of the original Scoops Mental Propaganda here on the 2.0 version, and I intend to honour that promise. So, as an early Christmas present to my devoted readers, several of them have been dug out of the archive, dusted off, and scanned into the magic machine. Actually they are carefully stored in a nice binder on one of my bookshelves, but it sounds more dramatic the other way.
First up on the rerun pile is #4. I have always liked this poem by John Muir and even used it at the beginning of an essay in first year. But, despite my picking and using it, I do not believe in its sentiment. One person in the newsroom insisted the poem was not by Muir, and that a correction should be issued immediately. The person was wrong. Idiots existed before the interwebs it seems.
Next in our journey to yesteryear is #5. My wife’s favourite saying back in those days was “Be Perky” and I knew It had to be immortalized forever in a SMP. Everyone recognized the saying as hers, and several people told her to change me a royalty. She is still waiting for payment.
So that is all for now with our jaunts to the past, but don’t worry I still have some more lined up to enlighten you with. And if you use “Be Perky” then you owe my wife some $$$.
