Four friends of mine, all encountered over the years at FanExpo, have banded together to promote comics, fight for our four colour medium, and make racy little comments.
They are Comics Speakeasy!
Just starting up a few short months ago, episode eight hit only a few days ago, means catching up with this quartet of geeks won’t be difficult. Topics covered jump all over the place, from disdain for The New 52 to the Avengers Versus X-Men crossover. Sometimes they disagree, sometimes they mock each other, and all the time they are having fun.
I met all four of these gentlemen (????) at FanExpo, and enjoy their company. Good times were always had, while we discussed and debated endlessly the minutia of DC and Marvel and Independents. Some of them do not count Archie in these equations. They just can’t decide between Betty or Veronica.
Comics Speakeasy counts among their number Kevin the Marvel guy, Scott the Old Guy, David the Sarcastic One, and Phillipe the Explicit Tag One. Newbie Jim just started recently. The depth of geek knowledge they display individually and collectively is impressive and comprehensive. This coupled with all the wonderful views and thoughts they bring to the table, often make me talk back to my ipod. Which is a good thing!
And by the way, each episode begins with a new whispered password! Collect them all! Even the crazy ones, but not the too crazy ones!
P.S. You can subscribe to Comics Speakeasy on itunes.
