Three Random Thoughts On Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Another Christmas special we all enjoy is the 1970 opus, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.  Hard to believe this one is not older, since it feels like it has been around since the days of yore.

The Story

Told in flashback, we get the complete story of how Santa Claus came to be.  From humble beginnings being raised by elves, to meeting a lovely lady, to leading a revolution, we get everything about the Jolly Old Elf.

The Voices

Film legend Mickey Rooney does an incredible job imitating Santa’s voice.  We all know the real deal was too busy to participate, and we are all glad Rooney got all the moves down.  Even the singing.

The Answers

Every question you might have had about all aspects of Santa’s operations are answered here.  Reindeer flying?  Check!  What’s the deal with the chimneys?  Check!  Why December 24th?  Check!

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town is the best telling of the origin ever done.  And Mrs. Claus is darn cute too!

  1. David T.G. Riches says:

For Rankin-Bass not a bad production but they had the chance to weave elements of the original bishop into the tale and chose not to. That always disappoints me. I think they were afraid of the Dutch!
