Superman’s 75th Birthday is this year, and I am celebrating by taking a gander at Kal-El in all sorts of media. We are skipping ahead a decade or so from last time and are onto the Superman 1966 Cartoons!
These episodes are just pure fun, with Superman fighting off the menace of Lex Luther, Brainiac, and the Parasite! Alien invaders, evil warlocks and a giant ape also make appearances! Two fisted action and adventure at its best!
The great Bud Collyer was brought back to play both Superman and Clark Kent again. He had previously voiced the Man Of Steel on the radio show in the 1940’s, and was absolutely amazing at it.
You can easily view all these episodes, spaced out over the course of a week, from this this first season. The second season, the show was paired with Aquaman, and for the third with Batman. Unfortunately, only the first season is in my collection. Sad Face.
The New Adventures Of Superman is a great cartoon series and wonderful for the young kids. High flying stories starring Kal-El, what more could you ask for?
…is currently reading The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier And Clay by Michael Chabon.
P.S. This post is one of several I hope to do this year to celebrate the 75th Birthday of Superman. Happy Birthday Kal-El! Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
P.P.S. Superman Man Of Steel opens Friday, June 14th 2013. For an indepth look at the creation of this landmark movie, check out Jeffrey Taylor’s columns.
