Three Random Thoughts On Superman The Movie

Superman The Movie

Superman’s 75th Birthday is this year, and I am celebrating the momentous occasion by spotlighting the Last Son Of Krypton in other media.  Right now we are turning the planet Earth back and checking out Superman The Movie from 1978.

Superman S SymbolTHREE IN ONE!

With this film classic, we get three movies in one.  We start off in a mini story all about Kal-El on Krypton, than get a short jaunt to Clark Kent in Smallville, and finish with story of Superman in Metropolis!  Each one has its own vibe and style and Super greatness.

Superman S SymbolTHE CAST!!

People will point to Marlon Brando as Jor-El, or Gene Hackman as Lex Luther, and babble endlessly about their wonderfulness.  But the real Super casting is Christopher Reeve as the Man Of Steel himself.  He really made us believe a man could fly.

Superman S SymbolTHE MUSIC!!!

The immortal, incredible and irascible John Williams provides the iconic soundtrack.  The opening salvo, with the drumroll and everything, builds and builds, all to get you pumping for all the Super action!

Before you see the new movie coming up, this classic film definitely deserves a look see.  Great for kids, great for adults, great for everyone.

P.S.  This post is one of several I hope to do this year to celebrate the 75th Birthday of Superman.  Happy Birthday Kal-El!  Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

P.P.S.  Superman Man Of Steel opens Friday, June 14th 2013.  For an indepth look at the creation of this landmark movie, check out Jeffrey Taylor’s columns.

You forgot that Christopher Reeve was the Superman in Living Colour and with sweat stains on screen.
