Happy Birthday to Superman! The Last Son of Krypton is 75 this year! And to celebrate, I am taking a gander at Kal-El in all types of media. This week I peruse Superman The Animated Series!
Created by the same brain trust behind Batman The Animated Series, this great show unfortunately only lasted four seasons, comprising 54 episodes altogether. But man, they are excellent stories, going from the origin story all the way up to bread crumbs leading to the Justice League series.
While Tim Daly does an admirable job as the Man of Steel and Dana Delany is a great Lois Lane, the real acting star here is Lex Luther. Clancy Brown, the esteemed actor who has been on a million projects ranging from Lost to Earth 2, IS the voice of the evil billionaire. That oily, nasty, manipulative voice is Superman’s arch-nemesis. Darn he’s good.
Green Lantern! Flash! Batman! Lobo! Supergirl! The New Gods! Doctor Fate! Steel! Maxima! Robin! Aquaman! Whew! A whole smorgasbord of DC heroes show up here, much to my Geek excitement!
Superman The Animates Series is a great show for kids, grown-ups, and Geeks like. Love, love, love this wonderment!
