A couple of items popped up on Youtube recently which caught my attention. All are cool or rad or interesting or caused controversy for completely insane reasons.
The Fault In Our Stars
When @Rebeccahh95 and I did our second Read-A-Long, she picked The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. And after we marveled and cried and laughed at the tale of Hazel and Gus, we waited patiently for the trailer for the upcoming movie to hit. And it did. And we freaked. And now we cannot wait for June 6th, 2014. This is the trailer that made our Geek minds explode. IT HAS A SWINGSET!!
With so many fandoms already entered into my cerebral cortex, and this year the immortal Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Fables are slowly dribbling in as well. And now, with the book series complete and the movie premiering March 20th 2014, I now have Divergent by Veronica Roth as my current read. Future dystopias are an interesting genre, and my Hunger Games vibe is already being trigged by this one. I only understand about half the trailer, but I will probably check every few days to see what else I recognize.
During the sporting event called the Superbowl, which is a big football game, commercials of considerable importance are aired. And I mentioned the football game bit because this is a mostly book blog and we Geek types know nothing of these sports things. Anyway, one of the commercials shown was a very touching spot by Coca Cola featuring children’s voices singing America The Beautiful in multiple languages. Interspersed all along the way is clips of all sorts of American families. Very America. Very Beautiful. But then the racist lurkers on the internet came out and attacked. Cue national debate where the ignorant clatter away their hate. Such sad people. Just enjoy a touching commercial.
To end on a downer, the webseries Out With Dad has launched a spin-off show called Vanessa’s Story. On Out With Dad, Rose tried to have a relationship with Vanessa, whose religious mother was very disapproving to say the least. In the current season, which I still have to catch up on, Vanessa leaves home and ends up on the streets of Toronto. The trailer for this soon to launched webseries is scary and realistic and heartbreaking. And thanks again to @Taliana83 for getting me into Out With Dad.
These are just a few of the things on Youtube that have zipped my braincells over the last little while. So many great Geek things to look forward to!
