Three Random Thoughts On It’s A Wonderful Life

Esteemed director Frank Capra gave us all a Christmas gift in 1946, the classic movie It’s A Wonderful Life.  Starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, this love story, set against a Christmas backdrop, makes your heart sing.

The Story

George Bailey is a nice guy in a small town who is considering ending it all because of mounting troubles.  But then his guardian angel, a spirit named Clarence, comes down to convince George otherwise.  All while examining his mortal life.

The Actors

Jimmy Stewart is charming, even when down, all throughout this film.  Donna Reed is lovely in every scene she is in.  The part by the bushes will make you smile and chuckle with their cuteness.

The Director

Frank Capra was a Hollywood legend.  Besides the comic love story It Happened One Night, and the political fable Mr Smith Goes To Washington, Capra was responsible for another favourite of mine, Lost Horizon.  The restored version is the best here.

Watch, enjoy, and learn from It’s A Wonderful Life.  It is a great movie with wonderful morals, all perfect for Christmas.

Which reminds me…

Merry Christmas!!
